Unfortunately, there’s something known as ‘oily skin’ in the world. A commonly-found skin type in men, that comes with a set of troubles-to-tackle (as usual). Bad news: the production of oil on the surface on your skin can really go bonkers and turn awry sometimes; resulting in bumps, pimples and a lot more. Good news: There’s a way you can fight that — something, we’re here to talk about today.

1. A (gentle) face cleanser.
Rule #1 obviously is to invest in oil-clearing face wash for yourself. And #2, use it religiously (twice, daily). By doing so, you’re going to ensure you eliminate the oil build-up that clogs pores on the skin and result in that uncalled-for annoyance. However, stay kilometres away from very harsh cleansers — instead of stripping your face off the excess oil-spill, they’d leave your skin dry. Result? Over time, a lot more oil on the face.
2. Heard of Micellar Water?
Hear us out: the biggest brands might be at the forefront promoting skin toners/astringents, but unfortunately, they aren’t for you. Instead, use Micellar water, that’ll help in removing the unnecessary sebum and ensuring your skin doesn’t turn into an irritant or gets dry.
3. Blotting sheets!
Since blotting sheets contain glycolic acid, AKA a wand for oil-reduction, an occasional use of a sheet or two can really help you deal with this cause. Plus, with it’s use, you might end up adding a lot of brightness to your face as well.
4. Mask yourself up.
While face masks are available in plenty in the market, clay masks are the best bets for you (to reduce oil and impurities). Use only once a week! And if you throw in ingredients like honey and shea butter, then expect a lot of hydration too.
5. Watch what you’re eating.
As a matter of fact, foods rich in anti-oxidants and Omega 3 fatty acids facilitate the process of healthy skin. So, with even a blind fold on, stick to gorging on them in plenty through the day. In general, however, stay away from anything high on sugar/fat.
6. Metrosexual enough? Here’s some ‘facial’ intel…
If you’re one of the few frequenting the salon for a facial, here’s what not to do: steam facials. Simple reason: they strip the moisture off your skin and in turn, make it oilier. Opt for a medical jet facial instead!
7. Consult a dermatologist.
First off, every man deserves a dermatologist in their lives, and a frequent habit of consulting them (whenever required). Oral medications such as Vitamin A, really help in reducing the size of your sebaceous glands, that are one of the vital causes of oil production on the face. But opt for this solution only under strict expert supervision!
